Few crafts feel as timeless as basketry. Across Africa, makers weave natural fibres into baskets, lampshades and wall pieces using skills passed from one generation to the next.
Made slowly, by hand
Every piece is woven by hand, so no two are exactly alike. Small variations in colour, size and pattern are not flaws. They are the mark of the maker.
Bringing it home
A woven pendant shade softens the light over a dining table; a round wall basket adds texture to a plain wall; a simple storage basket brings warmth to a bedroom or bathroom. Pair natural fibres with linen, clay and wood for a calm, earthy room.
You can find handwoven pieces in our shop, and meet the people behind them on our Meet the Makers page.
